[25/07/2009] - Important Information Regarding The Future Of UK OP

On Saturday 25 July, while at Hobby League the following information came to light after Leicester's TO got a phone call from XX The new TPCI Leader for Organized Play within the UK.

Supreme Victors Prerelease

The UK Prerelease of Supreme Victors will have sleeves, they will just be late as they are being sent from the USA to Europe and then to the UK. The sleeves were not confirmed as the Garchomp sleeves that were leaked earlier in the year (When Rising Rivals was announced). This means that they could still be Garchomp sleeves or they could have been remade, in which case would explain why they are late.

UK Nationals 2010

It has been mentioned that the 2010 UK Nationals will be help near Leicester, although an exact location has not been mentioned. This means that if they are to be held in the Midlands, they would be generally easier for players from all over the country to attend.

The Takeover

XX is only in charge as a temporary measure which will hopefully run smoothly, but for the 2010-2011 season we can expect a new UK OP Official as the Organized Play contract is up for grabs. It will more than likely go to one of the TO's in the top 5 of the country so Leicester, London and Leeds' TO's are included amongst two others.

Very interesing about Nationals moving to Midlands... I assume this isn't confirmed yet though, as Pokemon is known to change Nationals venue a lot (In 2007, they chanegd it several times :O) All very good information, thanks for this j.payne1991!

It makes sense that Nationals to be in the Midlands for a number of reasons

1) It is in the centre of the country, meaning it will be easier for a majority of people to get to.

2) There are some fantastic venues to host it such as Ricoh Arena (Coventry), Walkers Stadium (Leicester), NIA (Birmingham), NEC (Birmingham), The City Ground (Nottingham) and so many more.

3) Bigger Attendance, see reason 1.

Very true with reason 1 there. Players from places like Scotland and Wales don't want to travel all the way to London due to;

1) Cost - Credit Crunch and all

2) Distance - Very long way to travel
